After conducting extensive research, we came across an article written by a teacher named Russell Yates in which we all agree that his philosophy is an excellent example that incorporates Piaget's developmental model and is an ideal outline to follow in order to establish the optimal instructional planning and delivery.
According to Mr. Yates, his teaching philosophy includes the following strategies:
" Teachers should play the role as a facilitator and as a source of knowledge
" Produce cooperation between the student and their teachers
" Allow students to learn from each other through what he calls "peer tutoring"
" Give the students responsibility and freedom in both learning and behavior
" Build understanding of action consequence relationship
" Set up a learning style environment that emphasizes differences
" Allow continuous learning through the use of centers, projects, and group instructions
" Build leadership skills in all students
" Teach goal setting
" Encourage student responsibility and ownership of the learning environment (Yates 2003).
